The Pitfalls of Sugar & Saturated Fats And Why These Can Ruin Your Gains!

A lot of food products that are advertised as healthy actually are loaded with sugar and unhealthy fats. There are a myriad of negative effects to both sugar and saturated fats, and I will go over those shortly.  Having some sugar and saturated fats is A-OK, but when you start having too many you get into a danger zone.  Be mindful of nutritional labels and start working on paying attention to these so that you can avoid these hidden pitfalls and not derail your gains without even realizing it!


Here are some of the issues in both sugar and saturated fats, and what they can potentially lead to.

Too much sugar can:

  • Lead to weight gain
  • Increase risk of heart disease
  • Linked to acne
  • Increase risk of diabetes
  • Increase chance of certain types of cancers
  • Lead to depression
  • Age your skin and cause cellular aging
  • Drain your energy
  • Lead to a fatty liver.

Too many saturated fats can:

  • Raise your LDL (the bad cholesterol)
  • Increase risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Cause weight gain.

So make sure you are staying under 5 grams of saturated fat and keep your sugars under 10 grams per serving when eating a healthy snack in order to stay in peak condition both internally and externally, and as always.
