You’ve heard the old say, “You are what you eat.” Turns out, there’s a lot of truth to this seemingly-silly phrase.
Everything you eat travels through your gut, which is home to millions of bacteria and other microscopic critters. When you feed yourself, you’re also feeding the organisms in your gut. What you feed these micro-organisms can have a lot to do with your overall health, including the way you feel, the foods you crave, and even how your immune system functions.
Prebiotics play an important role in gut health, which is why we included prebiotics in our new line of ViBE Balance and ViBE Energy bars.
What are Prebiotics?
Prebiotics stimulate the growth of good bacteria. They’re essential special plant fibers that aren’t able to be digested by your body, so they’re used as food for your gut bacteria. Prebiotics are found in an abundance of fruits and vegetables, especially those that are rich in complex carbs.
Prebiotics and Gut Health
Prebiotics and gut health go hand in hand. You have nearly 500 species of bacteria in your gut. When you’re eating processed foods, lots of sugar, or other foods that aren’t nutritious, it can damage the health of your gut microbiome and negatively impact areas of your health.
For example, you might get sicker more often because your immune system is weakened. Or, you might not sleep well, crave sugary foods, or even increase your body’s inflammation.
Prebiotics help feed the good bacteria so that your microbiome can maintain a healthy balance and help you thrive.
We include prebiotics in our ViBE Energy and ViBE Balance bars using non-GMO tapioca starch. Tapioca fiber is rich in prebiotics and can help keep bad bacteria in check and let the good bacteria flourish.
Right now, all of our new ViBE bars are on sale as part of our product launch. Check out our ViBE Energy and ViBE Balance bars and Bite for Benefits!
